POLOKWANE: A GROWING SPORTING HUB

Polokwane Municipality is actively working to establish the city as a premier sporting destination. This includes exploring the possibility of hosting the Springboks at the Peter Mokaba precinct, which would contribute to local economic growth.

Executive Mayor, Cllr John Mpe, recently spoke with Romy Titus and Kevin McCallum on Not The Sports News on OmniAudio.Africa about Polokwane’s decision to host World Cup qualifiers at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium. He emphasized that Polokwane is a developing city with a strong community, a peaceful environment, and a commitment to cleanliness, making it an ideal location for such events.

Additionally, the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium will be used as the official training ground for Bafana Bafana, while Lesotho’s national team will train at Seshego Stadium. These initiatives reinforce Polokwane’s dedication to enhancing its sports infrastructure and attracting major sporting events.
