MPAC ENGAGES COMMUNITIES ON 2023/24 DRAFT ANNUAL REPORT AT NEW PETER MOKABA STADIUM

The Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) in Polokwane Municipality has embarked on a critical consultation process with communities regarding the 2023/24 Draft Annual Report, held at the iconic New Peter Mokaba Stadium. This engagement serves as a platform for transparency, accountability, and direct feedback on service delivery progress.

Representing the Executive Mayor, MMC Cllr. Tshepo Nkwe emphasized that the purpose of tabling the Annual Report is to account for the municipality’s activities over the past financial year. “Our initiatives were guided by the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and aligned with the Council-approved budget for 2023,” he stated.

On financial performance, Polokwane Municipality secured a favorable unqualified audit outcome, reflecting responsible financial management. Debt collection efforts surpassed expectations, achieving an impressive 76% collection rate—far exceeding the budgeted 30%, despite economic challenges. However, Cllr. Nkwe highlighted concerns such as illegal meter connections and land invasions, which continue to strain municipal finances.
