ONGOING POWER OUTAGES AND WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTIONS

Polokwane Municipality hereby informs residents of the ongoing power outages affecting certain areas due to severe cable theft and acts of vandalism on municipal mini-substations and meter boxes.

These unfortunate incidents have disrupted essential services, and while the municipal teams are working to restore power, the municipality appeals to the affected communities to exercise patience as the municipality addresses the situation.

These power outages are impacting parts of the city area and sections of Seshego, including Zone 6 and surrounding areas. The disruptions have also affected the functioning of the Sand River North boreholes, which supply water to areas including Ladanna, Mahlasedi Park, Rethabile Gardens, Emdo Park, Mahlako A Phahla, Luthuli Park, the Gateway area and parts of the Central Business District (CBD). This has led to water supply challenges in these areas.

The municipality urges residents in affected areas to treat all electrical wiring as live and switch off appliances to prevent injuries or damage when power is restored. All residents with water supply are urged to use water sparingly during this period.

The municipality remains committed to restoring power and water services as quickly and safely as possible; and apologises for the inconvenience caused.
