CLOSURE OF STREETS AND PARKING LOTS DUE TO FESTIVE LIGHTS EVENT
Polokwane Municipality wishes to inform all road users of the planned closure of streets within the Central Business District (CBD) and parking areas around the Civic Centre. These closures are necessary to facilitate the Festive Lights event, including a fireworks display.
The following streets will be closed from 16h00 on Friday, 6th December 2024, until 05h00 on Saturday, 7th December 2024:
- Bodenstein Street between Landdros Mare and Paul Kruger Streets.
- Church Street between Rabe and Thabo Mbeki Streets.
- General Joubert Street between Bodenstein and Rabe Streets.
- Market Street between Bodenstein and Rabe Streets.
- Paul Kruger Street between Bodenstein and Rabe Streets.
Municipal traffic officers will be deployed to regulate traffic along Thabo Mbeki Street between Landdros Mare Street and Church Street. One lane along Thabo Mbeki Street in this area will be closed during the event.
Residents in the vicinity are kindly advised to ensure the safety and comfort of their pets during the fireworks display.
The Festive Lights Event will occur at Civic Centre Park, adjacent to Jack Botes Hall. The event will commence at 16h00 on Friday, 6th December 2024, and conclude at 05h00 on Saturday, 7th December 2024, marking the official start of the festive season.
Motorists and other affected road users are encouraged to utilize alternative routes and parking areas during the closure period.
Polokwane Municipality apologizes for any inconvenience caused and appreciates cooperation of all in making this event successful.
