Umhlanga, 08 June 2024 – Just a few hours before the iconic Comrades Marathon, Executive Mayor Cllr Makoro John Mpe shared words of encouragement with the eager runners in Durban. This annual tradition by Polokwane Municipality, in partnership with Capricorn District Municipality, shows support for the resilient athletes.

Quoting from the scriptures, Executive Mayor Mpe highlighted the joy of giving and supporting noble causes, much like the community’s fervent backing of our athletes.

Beyond motivation, he emphasized the municipality’s commitment to essential services, including recent projects like renovating tennis courts, operation of state-of-the-art Seshego Water Treatment Plant and fighting potholes.

He also stressed the importance of investing in sports infrastructure for societal and economic growth, affirming that supporting runners is investing in the community’s future.

As he was wishing the runner success, he urged them to pursue their plans with determination.
