BRIEF PROFILE OF THE WHIP OF COUNCIL, CLLR RAPETSWA PHETOLA ADOLPH

Cllr Phetola Adolph Rapetswa was born in Seshego Township. He did his primary education at Lotanang Primary School and his secondary education at Bokamoso Secondary School, where he completed his Grade 12. His post matric qualifications include Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Limpopo. He also completed a Certificate in Executive Leadership Municipal Development Programme (ELMDP) from the University of Pretoria. He is currently registered for a post graduate diploma in Business Management from MANCOSA.

He has been a member of the African National Congress (ANC) since 2005, and has served/is serving in various leadership positions including the following:

• Chairperson of Polokwane Youth Forum from 2011-2016;
• Ward Committee member from 2011-2016;
• Chairperson of Phillip Legodi Branch from 2021-2023;
• Member of the Regional Executive Committee (REC) of the ANC Peter Mokaba Region;
• Member of the Regional Working Committee (RWC) of the ANC Peter Mokaba Region;
• Spokesperson of the ANC Peter Mokaba Region; and
• Chief Whip of the ANC in the Council of Polokwane Municipality.

Cllr Rapetswa was elected as a Ward Councillor in 2016 and was later appointed as a Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Admin and Governance Portfolio. He returned to the Council in 2021 as a Proportional Representative (PR) Councillor and was elected Whip of Council at the first sitting of the Council, the position he currently holds.
