Polokwane Municipality’s 2024 Ward Commitee Conference is currently underway at the Ranch Hotel. The theme of the conference is: “Empowering Ward Committees for Smart Governance and Better Service Delivery”. This theme seeks to provide ward committees as catalyst of public participation with critical information that is aimed at improving service delivery.

 

 

The Whip of Council, Cllr Adolph Rapetswa said during his opening address that Ward Committees perform a crucial role that serves as the link between the municipality and its constituencies. As catalyst of public participation at grassroots of local government, ward committees are instrumental in promoting active citizenry, improving service delivery, and driving sustainable development initiatives.

 

 

“I must say that this gathering is important to us because it is expected to tackle tough issues related to solidifying our public participation position and delivery of quality services to our communities,” said Cllr Rapetswa.

 

Polokwane is committed to working with citizens and groups within the community to find sustainable ways to meet their social, economic, and material needs and improve the quality of their lives.

 

 

The conference will provide a platform to exchange best practices, share insights, and devise strategies for addressing local challenges. The Executive Mayor, Cllr. Makoro John Mpe will address the ward committees and other stakeholders present.
