COMPLETION OF PREPAID WATER AND ELECTRICITY TOKEN IDENTIFIER (TID) ROLLOVER


Polokwane Municipality completed the Prepaid Meter Token Identifier (TID) rollover project. This process commenced in May 2021 and was concluded in December 2023.


The TID is a 24-bit identifier embedded in Standard Transfer Specification (STS) compliant tokens. It records the date and time a token was generated and is essential in preventing the reuse of tokens in prepayment meters.


All STS prepayment meters will undergo the TID rollover on 24 November 2024. From this date forward, any tokens generated using the 24-bit TID based on the 1993 base date will be invalid, as meters will interpret the reset TID value as an old token.


To verify if your meter has been updated successfully, dial i057 on your Landis meter, and you should see the code 2.2, which indicates that the meter is updated. For CONLOG meters, dial #005# to display the code r2.


If a customer discovers that their meter is not up to date, they must immediately buy electricity. After purchase, the customer will receive 3 tokens that must be loaded into the meter sequentially.
