Public Notice – MUNICIPALITY ALERTS RESIDENTS TO BEWARE OF SCAM MESSAGES IMPERSONATING MUNICIPAL MANAGER – 07 May 2024

Polokwane Municipality has been alerted to a concerning scam targeting members of the community.

It has come to attention of the municipality that unsuspecting individuals are receiving fraudulent WhatsApp messages from a scammer utilizing the phone number 073 499 4153 falsely claiming to be Polokwane Municipality’s Manager, Ms. Thuso Nemugumoni and deceitfully soliciting financial assistance.

This number does not belong to the Municipal Manager, and she has not sent any WhatsApp messages to seek or solicit financial support from anyone. It is strongly advised for all to exercise when approached for similar acts.

The municipality urges all residents to remain alert to scams and report such suspicious activities to the police and relevant authorities.

The matter will be reported to the law enforcement to investigate.
