UPDATE ON WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTION IN POLOKWANE MUNICIPALITY FROM OLIFANTS LINE
Polokwane Municipality wishes to update residents on the ongoing water supply disruption following recent communications from Lepelle Northern Water (LNW).
Power was restored to Pump Station 3 (PS3) last night, and pumping from the Olifantspoort Water Treatment Works to Polokwane resumed at approximately 23:19. However, early this morning, LNW informed the municipality that another stoppage occurred at 03:14. This is due to a power trip at Pump Station 2 (PS2) on the Eskom side, which has also halted operations at Pump Station 3, as the flow from PS2 to PS3 on the Olifantspoort line has
been interrupted.
As a result, water supply across all areas in Polokwane, from Ga-Chuene, Thokgwaneng to City and Seshego, remains impacted and municipal reservoir recovery is temporarily delayed.
Polokwane Municipality is working closely with LNW to monitor the situation and will continue to provide updates as further information becomes available.
The municipality regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation during this time.
