WATER SHORTAGE IN POLKWANE MUNICIPALITY DUE TO SUPPLY CHALLENGES
Polokwane Municipality wishes to inform residents that a significant portion of the municipality is currently experiencing water shortages. These shortages are due to operational challenges affecting both municipal and external water sources.
The following issues are impacting water supply within Polokwane Municipality:
- Electrical challenge at Seshego Water Treatment Plant: The maintenance team is working to restore operations at the Seshego Water Treatment Plant following an electrical issue.
- Ebenezer and Olifantspoort Water Sources: While power was restored to the Ebenezer water supply system yesterday at approximately 11:00, an outage occurred again early this morning. Furthermore, Pump Station 3 on the Olifantspoort line has been experiencing ongoing power dips since yesterday afternoon, with power still down as of this morning. Lepelle Northern Water has escalated this issue to the relevant stakeholders for urgent intervention.
These challenges are unfortunately counteracting the municipality’s efforts to restore a regular water supply to all affected areas. The municipality, together with Lepelle Northern Water, remains committed to addressing these issues as swiftly as possible to minimize inconvenience to the residents.
Water tankers will assist all affected areas with temporary relief through water tankers.
