WATER SUPPLY CHALLENGES AFFECTING POLOKWANE MUNICIPALITY
Polokwane Municipality hereby informs residents and businesses that reservoir levels are currently at critically low levels due to operational challenges experienced by Lepelle Northern Water at Ebenezer Plant. These challenges have significantly impacted water supply to many areas within the municipality.
The plant was initially shut down yesterday morning at 07h20 to repair a pipe burst, with repairs completed by 12h00. However, the plant experienced another shutdown early this morning at 02h50 due to a power outage caused by a fallen tree on the 33kV power line supplying the plant. Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality electricians are working to resolve the issue.
Challenges are also being experienced with the Sandriver boreholes and Polokwane municipal team is working to address these issues.
The current reservoir levels as of this morning are 0% for Potgieter, 50Ml Krugersburg, 30Ml Dome, 30Ml Flat and River North.
Polokwane Municipality urges community members receiving supply to use water sparingly during this challenging period.
Updates will be provided as soon as additional information becomes available.
The municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused.
