ANTICIPATED WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTIONS DUE TO OLIFANTSPOORT PLANT STOPPAGE
Polokwane Municipality wishes to inform residents that water supply will be affected due to temporary shutdown of the Olifantspoort Plant, as communicated by Lepelle Northern Water. The stoppage is necessary to repair a leak at the High-Lift Pump (HLP) Manifold, a critical component that connects multiple high-lift pumps for efficient water distribution.
Due to the extensive scouring process, Lepelle Northern Water estimates that repairs will take approximately 8 hours from 09h30 to complete. Given the already strained reservoir levels, this interruption will further affect water availability across the municipality.
Current reservoir levels as of this morning:
o Potgieter – 7%
o 50ML Krugersburg – 0%
o 30ML D – 5%
o 30ML F – 8%
o Seshego – 10%
As a result, water supply to all serviced areas will be affected. Polokwane Municipality urges residents to use water sparingly and will provide temporary relief measures to mitigate the impact in affected areas.
The municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and will continue to provide updates as the situation progresses.
