UPDATE ON ELECTRICITY SUPPLY RESTORATION IN SESHEGO AND CITY AREAS
Polokwane Municipality is working to restore electricity supply to all affected areas following unplanned interruptions, including a backlog from Saturday. The municipality appreciates the patience and cooperation of all affected customers as Energy Services teams work tirelessly to resolve these issues.
Electricity supply has been fully restored to most areas in the City and parts of Seshego, including Zones 2, 3, 4 and 6. However, some areas are still experiencing outages and the teams remain on-site to carry out the necessary repairs.
In Welgelegen, particularly in Genl Kock and Genl Muller Streets, two mini-substations remain off due to ongoing repairs. The repair teams are currently on-site, completing excavation work to pave the way for cable jointing. The revised estimated time for restoration is 20h00.
In Luthuli 9L and Extension 106, a suspected fault on the overhead lines has resulted in a second outage. A team has been dispatched to investigate and isolate the fault. The estimated restoration time will be confirmed once the fault has been fully identified.
At Bakone Malapa, Game Reserve, Ivydale around Kidds Street, a faulty pole-mounted transformer has been isolated. The municipality is in the process of sourcing a replacement transformer, and the task has been allocated to a contractor for installation. The estimated time for restoration is 12h00 on Monday afternoon.
A part of Seshego Zone 3 is also experiencing outages due to two faulty pole-mounted transformers. The repair teams have isolated the fault and are in the process of collecting transformers for replacement. The estimated restoration time for this area is 22h00 tonight.
The municipality understands the inconvenience these outages have caused and assures residents that its teams are working with urgency to restore power as safely and quickly as possible. The municipality will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
Residents are encouraged to report any electricity-related issues using the MyPolokwane Citizen App, which is available for download from all major app stores. This app offers a convenient way to log service requests and track progress in real time.
