Polokwane Municipality is working on fixing burst pipe and restoring water supply to Ladanna, Welgelegen, factories behind Ladanna and Hospital Park. The maintenance team has estimated 5 to 6 hours until completion of repairs and supply restoration.

Meanwhile, other areas within Polokwane Municipality are experiencing water shortage due to low reservoir level. These include Moregloed, upper parts of Sterpark and parts of Nirvana including Dubai Street. Bendor and parts of Seshego, in particular Zone 3, are experiencing low pressure.

Most reservoirs in the municipal area have not improved since last week. As a result, the municipality urges everyone to be water warriors and make water conservation their responsibility to ensure water availability for all.

All water users are urged to:

  • take shorter showers, turn off the shower while soaping up and then back on to rinse;
  • reuse water where applicable such as using bath water to water your garden;
  • use bucket to wash your car, instead of a hosepipe, if you must;
  • fix water leakages; and
  • report pipe bursts or leakages to the municipality to municipal call centre at 015 023 500

In the meantime, the municipality has deployed water tankers as a temporary relief measure to the affected areas. Normal water supply shall be restored once there is improvement in reservoir levels.
