Notice is hereby given that Polokwane Municipality is in the process of levelling grave hills at Silicon Cemetery as part of maintenance of the cemetery to allow for planting of lawn and trees.

This process is required for aesthetics, health and safety as well as for accessibility purposes. The process will be succeeded by development of a garden of remembrance in honour of those who have lost their lives due to COVID-19 pandemic as per the mandate from the National Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.

Polokwane Municipality appreciates cooperation and understanding of all affected stakeholders.

Members of the public, with queries related to environment such as natural resources (game reserve, bird sanctuary, plantation, environmental education and environmental compliance) and parks and open spaces (including cemetery and nursery) in the municipality, can contact the municipality’s Environmental Management Unit at 015 023 2246 / 5559.
