Polokwane Municipality has received communication from Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) about a planned water supply shutdown of Ebenezer Scheme on Thursday, 13th May 2021. This, according to LNW, is due to detection of a reported leak and illegal connections discovered along the main line towards Boyne.

The shutdown is planned from 08h00 until 14h00 on the day, affecting supply to Polokwane supply areas. This comes at the time when Polokwane Municipality is working towards restoring reservoir levels to sustain water provision as the levels have been suffering for almost two weeks. Reservoir levels have been at their lowermost since last week and have shown no improvement.

As of this morning, most of the reservoirs are at 0% despite pumping from both LNW’s water schemes.

It is by this reason that Polokwane Municipality advises all stakeholders to limit water consumption to immediate household needs in order for reservoirs to have meaning water capacity.
