Most areas within Polokwane Municipality are still experiencing water shortage due to water
supply stoppage from Olifantspoort Scheeme.
Yesterday in a letter addressed to the municipality, Lepelle Northern Water said: “This serves to
notify Polokwane Local Municipality of the stoppage of Olifantspoort Scheme’s Pump Station 3
(PS3), owing to Eskom’s planned maintenance on the line supplying PS3 which is being conducted
without prior notification. There will be no water supply to Polokwane due to planned maintenance
affecting the operation of PS3. ESKOM reported that maintenance will be completed at 18:00
today.”
The situation, according to Lepelle Northern Water, was however resolved this morning. However
most areas still not receiving supply.
There is no Nirvana, Plein street to Natorp, Moregloed, Bendor, Zone 8, Zone 2, upper Zone 3,
Zone 7, upper parts of Madiba Park, Ext 73, 76, 71 and 75. The following areas are experiencing
low pressure of water: upper Zone 4, lower parts of Madiba Park , Legae la Batho, and lower
parts of Zones 2 and 3, Thabo Mbeki and Webster Streets, lower parts of Flora Park and Fauna
Park.
Water tankers will assist with temporary relief while Lepelle Northern Water and the municipality
are working on the recovery of water sources.
