PUBLIC ALERT: TENDER SCAM ALERT – Bogus Message Impersonating Polokwane Municipality Corporate Services Director
The Polokwane Municipality has been made aware of a scam circulating where individuals are receiving fraudulent messages, purportedly from Mr. Donald Matsi, the Director of Corporate and Shared Services, regarding a tender bid for catering services.
Members of the public, especially those in business, are urged to exercise extreme caution and be aware of the following:
* The Municipality has NOT sent any WhatsApp messages regarding tender bids. Official communication regarding tenders is done through formal channels and established procurement processes.
* Verify any communication directly with the Municipality. If you receive a suspicious message, DO NOT respond to it or provide any personal or business information. Instead, contact the municipality directly to verify the authenticity of the message.
* Do not click on any links or provide any information via WhatsApp regarding tenders. The Municipality will not request sensitive information or tender-related details through WhatsApp.
The Polokwane Municipality condemns this fraudulent activity and is taking the necessary steps to investigate the source of these messages through relevant law enforcement authorities.
We urge anyone who has received such messages or has been affected by this scam to report it to the South African Police Service (SAPS) and to also inform the Polokwane Municipality’s law enforcement services.
