CRITICAL WATER SUPPLY UPDATE AND CONSERVATION APPEAL
Polokwane Municipality informs residents that there has been no improvement in reservoir levels since the weekend due to multiple power supply interruptions affecting municipal water sources and those managed by Lepelle Northern Water.
As of this morning, reservoir levels and water pumping capacities remain severely strained:
Reservoir Levels:
- Potgieter: 0% – Completely empty; no water available
- 50Ml Krugersburg: 0% – No stored water; unable to supply areas dependent on this reservoir
- 30Ml Dome: 0% – Dry; no water in storage
- 30Ml Flat: Critically low at 6% – May result in low pressure or no supply in affected areas
- Seshego: 0% – No water available for distribution
Water Pumping Capacity:
- Olifants: Water is being supplied, but technical faults with the meter prevent accurate monitoring
- Ebenezer: Operating at 140 l/s, which remains insufficient for demand
- Penina Park: Only 40 l/s – limited supply
- Doornkraal: 110 l/s – moderate but not enough to stabilize the system
- SRN: 3ML – significantly low
- Dalmada Final: 11.4ML – inadequate for full service
- Seshego New Plant: Only 3.7ML available – well below demand
The municipality is actively monitoring affected areas and deploying water tankers to provide temporary relief where possible. Residents receiving supply are urged to use water sparingly and responsibly during this challenging time.
For prompt assistance and to report water and sanitation issues, please use the MyPolokwane Citizen App to ensure swift municipal response.
The municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused.
END!
