POLOKWANE MUNICIPALITY ENGAGES TRADITIONAL LEADERS ON 2025/26 DRAFT IDP AND BUDGET

Polokwane Municipality has officially launched the public participation consultation process for the 2025/26 Draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget with today’s engagement with traditional leaders taking place at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium. Delivering the opening remarks, Executive Mayor Cllr.

Makoro John Mpe emphasized the importance of engaging with traditional leaders – key stakeholders whose insights are crucial in shaping the municipality’s development path. Traditional leaders play a vital role in local governance, particularly in rural communities, where they serve as custodians of land, culture, and social cohesion. Their participation in the IDP process ensures that development plans align with the real needs of communities, fostering inclusive and sustainable growth. Their perspectives provide valuable guidance on infrastructure projects, social programs, and economic initiatives, ensuring that development efforts respect cultural heritage while driving progress.

Polokwane Municipal Manager Thuso Nemugumoni outlines the draft IDP and budget to the traditional leaders.
