Water Disruption in Polokwane

Subject: Unplanned Water Supply Interruption

The Polokwane Municipality wishes to inform residents and other stakeholders about water supply interruptions affecting several areas.  These disruptions are due to two separate incidents:

Incident 1: Sand River North Boreholes

An unplanned water supply interruption is affecting several areas due to accidental damage to electrical cables supplying power to the Sand River North boreholes. The damage occurred last night as a result of contractor activity during road construction near St. Marco.

The boreholes are currently offline, and the electrical department is working diligently to repair the damaged cables.

Affected Areas: Residents in the following areas and their surroundings are currently experiencing water supply disruptions related to the borehole incident: Parts of Bendor, Ladanna, Emdo, Mahlako A Phaahla, Lesedi, Rethabile Gardens and Mahlasedi.

Incident 2: Dalmada Water Purification Plant

Parts of the city area are also experiencing water disruptions as a result of cable theft on Thursday that affected the Dalmada Water Purification Plant, resulting in critical reservoir levels.  While the plant came back online on Friday, reservoir levels remain low, and some areas may still be experiencing reduced water pressure or intermittent supply.

The Polokwane Municipality is working to restore full water supply as quickly as possible and apologizes for any inconvenience caused by these overlapping incidents. Updates will be provided as they become available. Residents are urged to use water sparingly during this time.
